Find the export 'door' for dragon fruit

Dragon fruit in the southern provinces is in the harvest season, the quantity of goods is large, but the disease causes the price to decrease, it is necessary to find output for consumption.

During the connection process, Vietnamese deals abroad said that many foreign importers are interested in developing a supply of high-quality dragon fruit from Vietnam. Among these, Australia and Japan are two potential export markets for Vietnamese dragon fruit.

According to the Trade Office, what importers or distributors are interested in is the quality of Vietnamese agricultural products .

"Diversifying value-added products from dragon fruit of localities and businesses is considered the right direction to diversify consumption channels, reduce seasonal pressure, develop markets and product brands" , Mr. Phu emphasized.

Long An and Binh Thuan - the two largest "granaries" of dragon fruit in the country are facing a difficult situation of consumption, and prices have decreased because of the impact of the disease. According to data from the Department of Industry and Trade of Long An, the average annual output of dragon fruit in Long An is about 330,000 tons. The trademark of Chau Thanh dragon fruit of Long An has been granted a certificate of geographical indication registration by the National Office of Intellectual Property. And Tam Vu dragon fruit is also protected in 5 countries, namely the US, France, Japan, Singapore and China.

In Binh Thuan, there are 33,750 hectares of dragon fruit, of which 11,936 hectares are certified VietGap, GlobalGAP reaches 517 hectares, the average output is 650,000 tons of fruit a year. This province currently has 240 establishments purchasing, processing and packing dragon fruit and 6 establishments processing added products from this fruit (dried dragon fruit, dragon fruit wine...).
