According to the General Statistics Office, the total export and import turnover of goods in September 2021 reached 53.5 billion USD, down 2% compared to August 2021, but up 4.2% over the same period last year. In which, export reached 27 billion USD, import reached 26.5 billion USD.

Nhìn chung 9 tháng, tổng kim ngạch xuất, nhập khẩu hàng hóa vẫn duy trì tốc độ tăng cao, đạt 483,17 tỷ USD, tăng 24,4% so với cùng kỳ năm trước, trong đó xuất khẩu tăng 18,8%.
Trong đó, kim ngạch xuất khẩu hàng hóa từ đầu năm đến nay đạt 240,52 tỷ USD, tăng 18,8% so với cùng kỳ năm trước, trong đó khu vực kinh tế trong nước đạt 62,72 tỷ USD, tăng 8,5%, chiếm 26,1% tổng kim ngạch xuất khẩu; khu vực có vốn đầu tư nước ngoài (kể cả dầu thô) đạt 177,8 tỷ USD, tăng 22,8%, chiếm 73,9%.
Cả nước có 31 mặt hàng đạt kim ngạch xuất khẩu trên 1 tỷ USD, chiếm 92,5% tổng kim ngạch xuất khẩu (6 mặt hàng xuất khẩu trên 10 tỷ USD, chiếm 63,2%).

Next was South Korea and Japan, reaching 16.1 billion USD and 11.4 billion USD respectively, up 11.4% and 5.1% respectively.
Regarding the structure of export groups, fuel and minerals were estimated at USD 2.66 billion, up 9% over the same period last year; processing industry was estimated at USD 214 billion, up 19.5%; agricultural and forestry products reached 17.7 billion USD, up 17.6%; seafood reached 6.17 billion USD, up 2.4%.
In the third quarter of 2021 alone, export turnover reached US$83.89 billion, up 5.2% over the same period last year and up 7.2% compared to the second quarter of this year.
The driving force for growth
In order to continue to increase exports in the last months of the year, Nguyen Viet Phong, Director of the Department of Trade and Services Statistics, General Statistics Office, said that, in addition to making efforts to control the disease and vaccinate, it must be focus on solutions to strengthen and expand export markets and take full advantage of the FTAs that have taken effect.
At the same time, it is necessary to constantly innovate and effectively organize trade promotion programs, connecting domestic and foreign supply and demand in the online environment, based on new platforms. Along with that is to focus on exports in the field of processed agricultural products and food because these are the items that Vietnam has advantages.
In addition, the epidemic prevention and control in localities must be very cautious, flexible and certain, and must ensure the goal of maintaining and expanding the green zone. This is a prerequisite for sustainable recovery of production, business and trade in services.
