The main types of meat and meat products for export include: Frozen chicken feet (mainly to China); frozen whole suckling pig (only to Hong Kong, China market); Frozen frog meat (mainly to Belgium, USA, France);

Fresh, chilled or frozen pork (to the markets of Papua New Guinea, Laos, Malaysia)…

The main export market is Asia. In which, exports to Hong Kong - China account for the most, accounting for 44.04% in volume and 64.84% in value of the country's total exports of meat and meat products.

Specifically, Vietnam exported nearly 2.57 thousand tons to Hong Kong market, worth 16.61 million USD, up 79.8% in volume and 102% in value compared to the first quarter of 2022.

Although the turnover increased sharply over the same period, the amount of pork exported is still too small compared to the total production output.

In the opposite direction, data from the General Department of Customs shows that, in the first 2 months of 2023, Vietnam imported 75.78 thousand tons of meat and meat products, worth USD 158.01 million, down 13. 7% in volume and 19.8% in value over the same period in 2022.

Meat and meat products are imported from 37 markets around the world. In which, India is the largest supplier of meat and meat products to Vietnam, accounting for 27.15% of the country's total imported meat and meat products, with 20.57 thousand tons. worth USD 57.55 million, down 19.9% in volume and 26.2% in value over the same period in 2022.
