The Import-Export Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade said that Vietnam's coffee exports to the US market in March reached 15.3 thousand tons, worth 34.52 million USD, up 15.8% in volume and up 18 .4% in value compared to February, compared to March 2022, an increase of 40.5% in volume and 34.7% in value.

Thus, in the first quarter, coffee exports to the US market reached approximately 39.4 thousand tons, worth 86.19 million USD, up 44.5% in volume and 26.9% in value compared to the previous quarter. same period in 2022.

Coffee exports to the US soar

Generally, in the first three months of this year, Vietnam sharply increased exports of Robusta coffee to the US market, but reduced exports of Arabica and processed coffee.

In 2022, the average export price of Vietnam's coffee to the US will reach 2,355 USD/ton, up 15.5% compared to 2021. In which, the average export price of Robusta coffee to the US will reach 1,965 USD/ton. tons, up 13%; Arabica coffee reached 4,451 USD/ton, up 53.1%.

In 2022, Vietnam exports Robusta, Arabica and processed coffee varieties to the US market. In which, the export of Robusta coffee to the US reached 109.42 thousand tons, worth US$ 214.98 million, down 1.2% in volume, but up 11.7% in value compared to 2021; Arabica coffee reached 10.1 thousand tons, worth 44.97 million USD, down 17% in volume, but up 27.1% in value; processed coffee reached over 45 million USD, up 1.0%. Thus, Vietnam's coffee exports to the US in the first quarter of this year had a very positive growth.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that, in 2023 and the following years, Vietnam's coffee industry needs to promote branding, planning the development of appropriate material areas, at par with development requirements, and promoting scientific application. learning technology, digital transformation, green transformation, meeting strict requirements from import markets, including the US market.

According to the Commodity Exchange of Vietnam (MXV), in order to strengthen the position and profit of the industry, the promotion of deep processing and quality improvement are still factors that help the export of the domestic coffee industry to be stable.

According to MXV, although world coffee prices weakened in the session on May 1st, in general, the main trend is still increasing amid concerns about supply shortage. In the past 4 months, the price of Vietnamese coffee has increased by 32%, currently fluctuating around 50,900-51,500 VND/kg. This is a positive signal to promote farmers' sales and improve export turnover.
