This is an activity within the framework of the National Program on Trade Promotion chaired by the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association in collaboration with relevant ministries, branches and agencies annually with the goal of creating forum to discuss, share information on export markets, identify opportunities and challenges, evaluate production and trade capacity of the coffee industry to meet the requirements of export markets, promote relationships interested in the development of world coffee.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development - assessed, Vietnam's coffee industry has developed significantly in terms of area, productivity, output, gradually building modern coffee processing industry, diversified products, suitable for market tastes.

Many advances have been applied to production such as: new varieties, intensive farming techniques, economical watering, intercropping, landscape design, preliminary processing, preservation, certified production and especially re-cultivation of tomatoes. Mr. Le Hoang Tai said that the world's leading coffee importing and consuming markets such as the US, EU, etc. are increasingly demanding on quality and sustainability for products. Most recently, on December 6, the European Commission (EC) said that the European Union (EU) had reached an agreement to ban the import of a number of products that are considered the main factors promoting deforestation, including: there is coffee. This is obviously a huge benefit, but it is also an opportunity for Vietnamese coffee exporters to change, adapt and develop.

Meanwhile, Mr. Do Ha Nam - Vice Chairman of Vietnam Coffee - Cocoa Association, Chairman of Intimex Group - said that at present, Brazil has a very large coffee growing area, causing great competition pressure. for Vietnamese coffee. Therefore, Vietnamese coffee needs to quickly find a place for itself, that is, it needs to quickly invest in depth. Along with that is planting high-yielding varieties and building a sustainable commodity market. At the same time, it is also necessary to create different coffee products.

In order to increase the value of coffee for producers and ensure a stable life for coffee growers, Mr. Do Ha Nam said that it is necessary to promote sustainable coffee programs, quality coffee with international certifications. such as 4C, Rain Forest, Fairtrade... with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development , international organizations, the world's leading roasters...

Over the past time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has advised to build and implement a number of policies to support coffee development such as: Project on sustainable coffee development; Coffee replanting scheme; National product project "Vietnamese high quality coffee", establishment of a Steering Committee for coffee replanting; Coordination Committee of Vietnam's coffee onion industry.
