The Import-Export Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade announced, according to information from the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, on October 4, 2022 on the electronic portal of the Taiwan Environmental Administration (EPA). ) notice of Taiwan's regulation on import restriction of asbestos-containing products.

According to the EPA's announcement, this regulation is built on the basis of Article 21 of the Law on Waste and Waste Treatment.

From May 1, 2023, Taiwan banned the import of products containing asbestos. The import of asbestos-containing products is only allowed when the importer has a written request and is licensed by the Central Management Authority of Taiwan in 3 cases including:

Firstly, imported for the purpose of protecting the population and the military;

Second, imported for the purpose of experiment, research and training;

Third , the inability to obtain suitable substitutes for non-asbestos products.
