For a long time, Bac Kan has been famous for growing and processing vermicelli, especially in Con Minh commune, Na Ri district with more than 20 processing facilities. However, from the previous year, people planted and processed vermicelli according to spontaneity and craft. Therefore, dong tubers and vermicelli are always in a precarious situation in terms of prices.

In order to overcome that situation, and at the same time, it is determined that agricultural products must become a strength. In the period of 2020-2025, Bac Kan province determines to develop agriculture in the direction of commodity production, strengthen linkages, and improve the chain. value to increase income for people; focus on developing endemic agricultural products with competitive strengths, aiming to export products.

Therefore, on April 22, 2021, the Bac Kan Provincial Party Committee issued the Resolution of the third meeting of the Provincial Party Committee (term XII) on the development of agriculture and forestry in the direction of concentrated commodity production. expanding production links along the value chain, associated with new rural construction in the period of 2021 - 2025.

The resolution strives to develop national products, focusing on two product groups: wood, wood processing and medicinal materials. The local product axis focuses on developing four product groups (vermicelli; fresh fruits and products made from citrus, persimmons, apricots and bananas; tea; raising cattle and pigs). The specialty and endemic product axis focuses on groups of special and endemic products of high value such as vegetables and fruits, mushrooms, rice and products made from rice...

From that Resolution, in the period 2015-2020, Bac Kan has built a stable raw material area with the goal of closing the value chain to the final product, which is vermicelli, not growing dong, for the purpose of selling dong. and starch out of the province.

At the same time, using resources from different programs to invest in supporting cooperatives and cooperative groups to produce and consume more than 1,000 tons of vermicelli, bringing in hundreds of billions of dong in revenue each year. Along with that, the province is always interested in directing brand building, improving quality, improving packaging, designs and promoting trade so that Bac Kan vermicelli products are increasingly asserted in the market. By the beginning of 2022, Bac Kan has more than 50 vermicelli processing facilities, in which, there are facilities with a closed factory scale. Bac Kan vermicelli products have been granted geographical indications, recognized OCOP products and are available on the national market through many large commercial centers, bringing stable income for growers and processors. .

The opportunity to export vermicelli to Bac Kan after a survey trip, learning the model of afforestation according to European technology, and understanding the market for agricultural products in the Czech Republic by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Thi Minh Hoa is the leader of the delegation. Through exchanges and working with the Embassy of Vietnam and the Association of Vietnamese in the Czech Republic, the delegation has grasped the needs and ability to meet the European market. Bac Kan Provincial People's Committee has agreed to choose Tai Hoan Cooperative, Con Minh Commune, Na Ri District as a partner to export vermicelli to Europe. Bac Kan province has spent a lot of resources to support Tai Hoan Cooperative to complete the processing plant. The province supports 2 billion dong for the cooperative to purchase machinery, equipment, drying house... The factory's processing capacity has increased from only about 10 tons of vermicelli/year to more than 300 tons/year. .

In particular, to position the brand for the product, vermicelli of Tai Hoan Cooperative has been certified as the only product of Bac Kan that has achieved the national 5-star OCOP certification.

Up to now, after many efforts, vermicelli products of Tai Hoan Cooperative have passed the strictest standards and are recognized by your side to be eligible for export to Europe. Currently, the processing capacity of Tai Hoan Cooperative is 1-2 tons of vermicelli/day.

Director of Myanmar Dong Tai Hoan Cooperative Nguyen Thi Hoan said that it took more than three months from the start of implementation until all procedures and conditions are met to export vermicelli products to the European market. and must pass rigorous quality control rounds. By August 2020, the cooperative had exported the first batch of 5.3 tons of vermicelli to the Czech Republic with a total order value of nearly $15,000. In May 2021, the unit continued to export another 10.5 tons of vermicelli to the Czech Republic with a total order value of more than 29,000 USD. In the second quarter of 2022, Tai Hoan Cooperative exported nearly 10 more tons of vermicelli to Europe.

Expect wine and leaven

After vermicelli, yeast wine is the next product to be licensed for export to the EU. Accordingly, at the end of October, Thanh Tam Cooperative, Cho Don district, Bac Kan province exported the first batch of alcohol products to the Japanese market.

Bang Phuc with an altitude of thousands of meters above sea level, cool climate, fresh cold water has long been famous in Bac Kan for its winemaking profession. Here, winemaking is popular in 9/9 villages according to the traditional method. Alcohol production is nearly 210,000 liters/month, equivalent to more than 6,000 liters/day, and is consumed in many provinces. Revenue from wine making and pig raising activities of ethnic minority households here is estimated at more than 65 billion VND/year.

To increase the value of products, Thanh Tam Cooperative with 24 members, cooperates with 11 local ethnic minority households. The product has been granted a provincial 3-star OCOP certificate. On average, each month, the unit produces and sells 10,000 liters of yeast wine to the market. The members of the cooperative have boldly actively searched for partners and have brought their products to the strict Japanese market.

In the coming time, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province will direct Cho Don district and functional agencies to support Bang Phuc commune to build a traditional wine-making village associated with tourism and export orientation. This will be a methodical way to improve the production of a specialty OCOP product of Cho Don in particular and Bac Kan in general.
