Watermelon 5 thousand, dragon fruit 8 thousand: Sunbathing on the sidewalk waiting for rescue

In recent days, on the streets of Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Luong Bang, Au Co (Lien Chieu district), dozens of tons of "rescued" watermelons are sold on the sidewalks at prices ranging from 5,000 to 6,000 VND/kg. .

The sellers said that watermelons are grown in Gia Lai, Kon Tum and Quang Ngai provinces. Recently, the export of this item to China has been congested, so it has to be sold in Da Nang.

Standing selling melons on the sidewalk of Ton Duc Thang street, Ms. Chau Thi Thuong (from Dien Binh commune, Dak To district, Kon Tum province) said that her family had 60 tons of melons in the harvest that could not be exported. To save money, she brought 25 tons to Da Nang to sell.

“Every year, I bring watermelons to Tan Thanh border gate (Lang Son province) to export to China, but this year the goods can't go, so I have to bring them here. I have been selling melons in Da Nang for 10 days now but have not finished 25 tons of melons, at home there are still tens of tons of melons that have not been sold," said Ms. Thuong.

About 500m from the selling point of Ms. Thuong, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (living in Hoa Vang district, Da Nang) said sadly: "Every year, I go to Gia Lai province to buy melons from relatives to sell at the border gate, but this year can't sell it. Seeing that it was difficult for me to grow melons, I bought more than 20 tons and moved them to Da Nang to divide them into many selling points, but the number of buyers was also very few.

Not only watermelon, dragon fruit is also sold a lot for 8,000 VND/kg with white flesh dragon fruit and from 10,000 to 12,000 VND/kg red flesh dragon fruit.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khai (hometown Ham Thuan Bac, Binh Thuan province) shared, the number of buyers is small, only on the 1st and full moon days.
