China stops importing goods through Kim Thanh border gate

Kim Thanh border gate (Lao Cai) stopped customs clearance because the Chinese side detected a domestic Covid-19 infection, stopped importing goods from Vietnam.

On February 17, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that Ha Khau district (China) announced to stop importing goods due to detecting Covid-19 infections in the country. The Chinese side will blockade Hekou district and test the entire population. Therefore, import and export activities through the Kim Thanh - Ha Khau border gate will stop.

However, today, Vietnamese cargo trucks have completed customs clearance procedures and are still allowed to export goods to China.

Currently, at Kim Thanh border gate, there are about 350 container trucks waiting for export. The Chinese side has not announced a specific time to receive Vietnamese goods back. The Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that businesses and people need to have a suitable plan for exporting and importing goods to avoid congestion and backlog of goods that may occur when China stops customs clearance at border gates. record.

The ministry also suggested that localities in farming and aquaculture areas regularly monitor the clearance of goods at the northern border gates to promptly update information to production households. This is to help farmers proactively adjust their production plans accordingly.
