The first province to export shrimp over 1 billion USD

On December 27, Mr. Vo Van Chieu - director of Soc Trang province's Department of Industry and Trade - said that Soc Trang's shrimp export turnover in 2021 reached over 1 billion USD, up nearly 23% compared to 2020. 

This is the second consecutive year that Soc Trang leads the country in shrimp exports and is the first enterprise in Vietnam with shrimp export turnover reaching over 1 billion USD.

According to Mr. Chieu, despite being heavily affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, Soc Trang's shrimp exports in 2021 are a remarkable bright spot. 

"Shrimp processing and exporting enterprises in Soc Trang have made great efforts to both prevent epidemics and maintain production activities. Many businesses have actively invested in equipment, expanded markets, and diversified. products, so the export turnover not only maintained but also grew strongly", Mr. Chieu informed.

Contributing greatly to the achievement of shrimp export turnover in 2021 of Soc Trang must include companies such as Soc Trang Seafood Joint Stock Company, Sao Ta Food Joint Stock Company, and Vietnam Clean Seafood Joint Stock Company. , Tai Kim Anh Co., Ltd., Ut Xi Seafood Processing Joint Stock Company, Khanh Sung Co., Ltd.

 

Not only achieving export turnover as expected, shrimp farming area and output both increased compared to last year, reaching over 53,000 hectares.

Notably, many industrial-scale shrimp farms of enterprises such as Sao Ta Food Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Clean Fisheries Joint Stock Company ... 2021 achieve high productivity, contributing to the supply of raw materials. and traceability, serving well for export. 

In Sao Ta Food Joint Stock Company alone, farming production in 2021 will reach a record, over 8,000 tons of shrimp, the highest in the country.

According to Ho Quoc Luc - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sao Ta Food Joint Stock Company, although the COVID-19 epidemic is still complicated, he forecast that the situation of shrimp exports in 2022 is still promising. Mr. Luc said that shrimp is a favorite food of many people, because it is delicious - delicious - nutritious, the demand for growth continues to be in good shape.

"When the COVID-19 epidemic is under control, there are no more severe variants, the service segment including restaurants, hotels, amusement parks, tourism ... will reopen, demand is high, so shrimp exports will increase. grow better," said Mr. Luc.
