According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, China is a market that accounts for 17-18% of Vietnam's total seafood exports in the past two years with over $1.4 billion, one of the top three export markets. of Vietnamese seafood.

However, due to the continuous decline since the beginning of the year until now, in the first three quarters of 2021, seafood exports to China only account for 11% of Vietnam's total seafood exports.

From April 2021, Vietnam's seafood exports to China continuously decreased by 11-51% due to strict control of imported frozen seafood at main ports of this country, causing congestion and costly for importers. imports from China, affecting the profits and needs of importers and Vietnamese export companies.

Along with the outbreak of COVID-19 in Vietnam from mid-July, seafood exports to China fell even further in the third quarter (down 36% in August and down 51% in September).

Recently, the General Administration of Customs of China said that it will strengthen the inspection of cold chain seafood. Faced with this strict control situation, it is forecast that Vietnam's seafood exports to China will continue to fall deeply in the last months of this year.

It is forecasted that seafood exports to China in the fourth quarter of 2021 will reach 242 million USD (down 40%) and in 2021 will reach about 1 billion USD, down 26% compared to last year.
