Phan Ri Cua fishing port in Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province is a large port, every day receiving hundreds of fishing boats of provincial fishermen and passing fishing vessels in the Central Coast region. Over the past time, the situation of sedimentation has made the channel running and the parking area narrow, making it difficult for fishing vessels to enter the port, especially large fishing vessels.
Difficulty getting in and out of the port
Fishermen who operate in Binh Thuan waters and often dock at Phan Ri Cua port said that every year, floods bring silt and sandy soil, causing the channel to run ships from the sea mouth to Phan Ri Cua wharf. , narrow. It is difficult for small boats to enter the port, and it is even more difficult for offshore fishing vessels with a length of 15 meters or more to get in and out.

Mr. Tran Van Duc, owner of two offshore fishing boats Bth99601TS and BTh98100TS, said that his boat had to wait for the tide to rise, compare the channel, watch the high water, then follow each other in and out. Local fishermen who are familiar with the creek are still able to help, ships outside the province are not familiar, they easily run aground, damaged rudders and propellers.
"It's difficult to get in and out of the gate, sometimes the boat runs aground, sometimes it's in trouble. It's a little difficult for small boats to get in and out of the water, but most boats over 15m have to wait until the water is really big to get in. They had to rush out immediately, so it was very difficult to transport them," said Mr. Duc.
Not only has the creek filled up, the signal poles outside the port have also been damaged for a long time. Fishermen have complained many times but have not seen any repair unit.
This time is the peak of the southern fish season, the fishing grounds are favorable, and fishermen exploit seafood effectively. But due to the shallow creek, a few small boats enter the fishing port of Phan Ri Cua, while large ships cannot dock to unload seafood.
Mr. Huynh Cong Anh - Director of Phan Ri Cua Fishing Port Management Board said that due to difficulties in entering and leaving the port, many large boats of fishermen in Tuy Phong district had to dock at Phan Thiet port, a fishing port in Ba Ria-Vung province. Ship to sell products. If you want to come here, you have to divide the goods into smaller boats and ships to transport from the middle of the river to the wharf, which has increased costs for ship owners, and at the same time, made it difficult for service businesses. fisheries logistics because of lack of raw materials. On the other hand, it also affects the inventory and statistics of the output of goods to Phan Ri Cua fishing port.
"Because the port could not be docked, many ships had to find other berths, so the output of goods was also dispersed. Therefore, the statistical counting of the output of goods arriving at the port was still very inaccurate" - Mr. Huynh Cong Anh said.
Sell sand to clear the channel
Phan Ri Cua fishing port is planned to be a class II fishing port, with a cargo handling capacity of 26,000 tons/year; the width of the channel to the port is 20m and the depth of the channel is 4m; The mooring water area has a depth of 4m. A fishing vessel with a length of 24m can dock at the port. At the port, there are fishery services, essential services, frozen storage for cold storage...

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has surveyed the current status of creek filling and proposed a plan to submit to the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province for the policy of dredging the channel. Tuy Phong district in 2010.
This project was assigned to Thien Thien Tuong Minerals Co., Ltd. to implement in the form of socialization of dredging investment. Up to now, Binh Thuan has adjusted its investment policy 3 times and the most recent adjustment is May 27, 2021 on the urgent dredging of the estuary channel area and the water area in front of Phan Ri Cua fishing port, Tuy district. Phong but the dredging volume is not as expected.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chien - Deputy Director of Binh Thuan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that currently due to the epidemic situation, the Department has not been able to check. Dredging works combined with reclaiming soil sand. Business enterprises must be able to consume, but he thinks that this is difficult in the sand consumption stage, so it has just been deployed but is sluggish. Because it is a private project, while dredging depends heavily on output, the sand and soil cannot be sold, so this is very difficult.
In addition to the situation of accretion of channels, the parking area at Phan Ri Cua fishing port, the fishing port infrastructure here has also deteriorated, and environmental pollution has not been overcome. This situation is not only in Phan Ri Cua fishing port. In order to create favorable conditions for ships to enter the port to load and unload goods, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province should soon inspect and have a plan to deploy dredging this channel, especially when the rainy season is approaching. .
