Import and export of goods showed positive signs |
Generally, in the first nine months of the year, the country's total import-export turnover reached nearly 484 billion USD, with a deficit of more than 2.5 billion USD.
Specifically, exports reached more than 240.6 billion USD, up 18.8% over the same period last year, while imports reached nearly 243.2 billion USD, up 30.8%.
Commodity exports are showing signs of slowing down since August. However, in September, the decline in export turnover growth was lower. In general, in 9 months, exports still increased. This is one of the reasons contributing to GDP growth in the first 3 quarters of the year. In the context of complicated epidemic developments, this is a great effort of industries, localities and the business community.
Vietnam's export activities are having advantages when we are effectively exploiting FTAs and the market demand is increasing at the end of the year, especially for the group of goods we have an advantage.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade analyzed that the growth rate of export turnover has reached 18.8% after 9 months, which is quite a large number. Meanwhile, for the whole year of 2020, the country's export turnover only increased by about 7%. However, at present, import growth is larger with 30% and after 9 months, the whole country has a trade deficit of 2.13 billion USD, equivalent to 0.8% of import and export turnover. This is not a worrying number.
"We have three months left in the fourth quarter, if there is no major change in disease control, we hope that the last three months of the year will be the time when southern localities will regain their growth momentum and end the whole year of 2021 in the second quarter of the year. If it is more favorable, there may be a trade surplus, "- Mr. Tran Thanh Hai affirmed.
